About the capoeira school «Rabo De Arraia»

«Rabo De Arraia» is one of the first schools that began to work on the territory of Ukraine and develop the culture of the martial art of capoeira. In 2007, the Ukrainian branch became part of the international RDA group.

The founder of the school, mentor and leader is the Brazilian Master Balu (Mestre Balu), who celebrated his 30 years of experience in capoeira in 2015.

The group regularly, several times a year, holds congresses and seminars in different cities and countries, since RDA is an international network of representative offices in England, Spain, Portugal, Angola, Russia. Thanks to this, the students of the school maintain mutual friendship with other branches, learn languages and travel.

We can safely be called Capoeira familia (family), where not only a healthy lifestyle reigns, but also a warm home atmosphere.

Capoeira is not just a martial art. These are productive workouts with physical and cardio activity in a colorful Afro-Brazilian style, as a result of which speed, endurance, flexibility, strength, observation, communication skills, the ability to interact with the outside world and self-expression are developed.

Capoeira has recently received a special UNESCO protection status as an intangible cultural heritage. No other sport or martial art can boast of this. With capoeira, we get to know Brazil, the Portuguese language and the rich culture of the country as a whole.

The capoeira technique is similar to a game and is often compared to chess. We do not dance or fight, but alternately with the opponent make moves, trying to predict each other's actions.

Absolutely everyone can practice the martial art of capoeira:

• Physical fitness is optional. Equally successful are those who have not been involved in sports before, and those who have tried themselves in other types of activity.
• There are no age restrictions. Both children and adults can do it. At the copaira branch on Lukyanovka / Kontraktova, only adults and adolescents over 14 years of age are recruited*. In the acting group, the age is mainly 25-30 years old.

About the capoeira coach

Classes are taught by instructor Anna Verbovskaya, nicknamed (as is customary in capoeira) Jabuticaba (toaduchikaba) - this is the name of a delicious Brazilian berry.

Having fallen in love with capoeira in 2007, Anya won 6 belts out of 10. She began teaching martial art in 2014.

Capoeira for me is an opportunity to be myself and learn more about myself every day, months and years of training. Here I can charge other people with my energy, joy and emotions. They, in turn, often inspire and energize me. I love the Rabo de Arraia group for the family atmosphere.
